AWEA Statement on House Passage of Energy and Climate Legislation

Today, as the U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act by a vote of 219-212, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) released the following statement from AWEA CEO Denise Bode:

"The wind energy industry congratulates House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Chairmen Waxman and Markey, and the entire House leadership for successfully adopting energy and climate legislation that includes a Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) and thereby provides a long-term commitment to building up the nation’s renewable energy generating capacity and manufacturing base."

"We look forward to working with the Senate and Congress toward final passage of legislation that includes a strong RES. A strong RES will allow our country to remain competitive in the global race to secure renewable energy investment and jobs and will demonstrate our commitment to avoid carbon emissions."
