Business Membership Information & Application
When you plug in to AWEA’s network, you get:
access, experience, and information.
ACCESS to policy makers and key wind industry leaders; over 25 years of EXPERIENCE in policy and market development; and INFORMATION on all aspects of the wind industry, from state-of-the-art technology to historical data to market outlook and analysis. Plus the fastest way to connect with the key players in the U.S. wind energy industry.
Wind power is the world’s fastest growing energy source with the U.S. industry expanding rapidly. Since 1974, AWEA has advocated the development of wind energy as a reliable, environmentally superior source of electric power in the U.S. and around the world. AWEA is where industry leaders come together to network, forge relationships and stay informed and educated on industry policy, legislation, and trends.
AWEA helps its members pull it all together. Federal policy, state policy, electric industry market structure, consumer interests, local regulations, you name it — today’s electricity generators must grapple with a full range of market and policy concerns. Commercial power markets are complex, and AWEA provides broad insight on how laws and basic market rules affect the business of the wind industry.
AWEA helps its members get connected. AWEA members are plugged into a strong network of industry leaders. AWEA also reaches out to the public, the media, and energy policy makers through a full range of communication services. AWEA is dedicated to “raising the profiles” of its Business Members and the industry as a whole.

AWEA Representation
AWEA members & staff are focused on policy matters that affect the industry’s long-term growth. AWEA provides a comprehensive approach to policy, integrating federal, regional, and state legislative and regulatory initiatives for a thorough national effort.
AWEA’s legislative efforts are mainly coordinated through the input from the member-driven Legislative Committee. AWEA’s regulatory efforts before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) are mainly coordinated through input from the member-driven Transmission Task Force.
Regional coordination is critical to AWEA’s legislative and regulatory work at the state and local level. AWEA maintains dedicated regional representatives in the Great Plains, the West, and the Northeast. AWEA also maintains formal working relationships with several regional advocacy groups and organizes ad hoc task forces to deal with specific state legislative and regulatory opportunities. Together, member-based leadership, staff expertise and access, and national coordination of regionally based programs, allows AWEA to ensure that state legislation and market rules that foster increasing wind development around the country are advanced.
Gain priority access to AWEA’s legislative and regulatory staff; regular updates on key issues like the production tax credit, renewables portfolio standards, electric industry restructuring legislation, wholesale market rules, transmission access, and retail marketing of green power at both federal and state level; www.awea.org/legislative for up-to-date issues affecting our industry … by joining AWEA.
