AWEA Utility Working Group
The AWEA Utility Working Group (AUWG) is a group made up of electric utilities that are organized to exchange information on wind power for use at their utilities. The purpose of the group is to provide a forum for the free exchange of information, best practices, lessons learned, operating experience, and challenges associated with the development of wind power by and for electric utilities in the U.S. AWEA values the insight and guidance of these utility members to direct further programming, services and research that benefits its utility members.
The group exchanges information to accomplish the objectives listed above in a number of ways, including:
-
In-person, face-to-face meetings twice a year (see below) and periodic regional meetings with local utility leaders
-
Electronic newsletters from AWEA on topics of direct interest to electric utilities related to wind power
-
Conference calls and webcasts on particular utility wind topics to explore these issues in more detail
-
Reports and analysis performed on key topics of interest to electric utilities
-
Networking opportunities at AWEA events throughout the year
-
Provide insight to AWEA on utility perspectives on various policy issues
The AWEA Utility Working Group typically meets two times each year in face-to-face meetings. The first meeting occurs at the annual WINDPOWER conference and exhibition. The second meeting typically occurs at the AWEA Wind Energy Fall Symposium. The working group meetings are open only for load serving utilities to provide a candid and comfortable environment to exchange utility ideas and challenges.
