AWEA Safety and Health Update
The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) values safety and health within
the wind industry. The AWEA Safety Committee was established to address occupational safety and health topics and issues within the wind industry. The committee and staff monitor legislative and regulatory items that will impact the industry. The 111th Congress, regulating agencies, and state legislatures have introduced several legislative bills, held hearings on worker safety and health initiatives, and have an active regulatory and enforcement agenda. This session will address how will it affects the wind industry and what AWEA members can do.

Environmental Topic - Federal Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC)
This session will outline Federal Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) requirements for utility scale wind projects, describe Duke Energy’s approach to complying with these requirements, and discuss owner operator challenges and solutions related to the construction and operation phases of
wind projects. In addition, the presentation will include a description of
future Duke Energy Integrated Contingency Plan (ICP) development to
address and respond to various emergency response scenarios at our sites.
