Small and Community Wind Conference & Exhibition
Detroit, MI - November 3 - 5, 2009
Wind power has emerged as a cost effective, clean, and scalable solution to satisfy growing energy needs. For homes, farms and ranches, businesses, rural electric cooperatives, and municipal utilities, renewable electricity generated and used on-site creates opportunities to make money, save money and be more energy independent.
AWEA had created our first Small & Community Wind Conference & Exhibition to bring together industry leaders, new entrants, project developers, economic development groups, municipalities, land owners and others to formulate and enact growth strategies for small and mid-sized wind applications. Focusing on important topics such as national renewable energy legislation, technology costs, zoning requirements, utility interconnection, tax revenues and investment opportunities, this conference offered valuable information on how best to capitalize on wind technology.

- work through the logjams in interconnection queues,
- expand transmission capacity.
AWEA Wind Power Project Siting Workshop
Seattle, WA - February 24 - 25, 2009

Order Conference Materials
AWEA’s annual Wind Power Project Siting Workshop was held February 24-25, 2009, in Seattle, Washington. Wind project siting issues span the entire range of project planning, construction and operation. Responsible siting of wind projects requires an understanding of interactions with permitting agencies, the public, wildlife, and surrounding land uses during each stage of a project. At the 2009 Siting Workshop we discussed the latest on relevant siting topics for the region. The recent approval of a 909 MW wind project in Oregon and the 2008 review of the Washington Wind Power Guidelines make the Pacific Northwest an ideal place to engage on these issues.
