Winning Community Acceptance: Dispelling Myths and Promoting the Realities about Wind Power

Recent movies and television programs have generated a flurry of emotion regarding wind energy. Some responses are real (sound, visual, wildlife concerns) and some are emotional (wind turbine syndrome, property values) – and together they can impact wind power project development. A distinguished group of presenters will give you the tools you need to improve your public outreach plan. Develop and practice your responses to these issues with your peers so you can learn how to separate emotion from facts and get the public behind your project.

Facilitator: Marion Trieste, President, Trieste Associates

Delivering the Wind: Transmission and Interconnection Issues and Challenges

To build and operate successful wind projects in New England, you must be able to deliver the wind energy to customers. Predicting deliverability during development can be tricky and maintaining or improving delivery during operations can seem overwhelming. An expert group of presenters will help you understand this complex issue. Topics to be covered include an overview of the interconnection process and what it will and won't tell you, how the wholesale markets enable or constrain wind deliverability, how new transmission gets built, ongoing transmission planning studies that address wind deliverability, and strategies for evaluating energy deliverability.
