Denise Bode is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Wind Energy Association, the national trade association of the U.S. wind energy industry. Ms. Bode is a nationally recognized energy policy expert and was elected twice, state-wide, to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, where she served for 10 years. Her experience of more than 30 years in the energy field is extensive and diverse, including serving as CEO of the American Clean Skies Foundation, President of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), a tax partner in the Washington, DC law firm of Gold and Liebengood, Inc., and nine years on the staff of then–U.S. Senator David Boren (D-OK) as his legal counsel, focusing on the areas of energy and taxation and staffing the Senate Finance Committee. Ms. Bode holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma, a Juris Doctor degree from the George Mason School of Law, and a Masters of Law in Taxation degree from the Georgetown University School of Law. In 2009, the honor of “Woman of the Year” for the Women’s Council for Energy and the Environment (WCEE) was bestowed on Ms. Bode, and she was named one of the Washingtonian’s “100 Most Powerful Women of Washington.” Ellen Carey Britt Theismann Carla Crider Carlene McGriggs
June B. Lane
June Bostic Lane brings many years of human resource experience in the energy industry to AWEA. Prior to becoming AWEA’s Manager of Human Resources, she spent 17 years as a Senior Management Consultant with a large energy-related member association, providing training and consulting services to their members around the country. During that time, she also managed their national compensation survey and served as editor of a management magazine with both U.S. and international subscribers. Since that time, as owner of her own HR consulting and training company, she has worked with a diverse clientele including banks, high tech firms, rural electric utilities and county and federal government. June is a cum laude graduate of Emory & Henry College and Wesley Theological Seminary. She has completed extensive doctoral study in adult learning and human and organizational development at George Washington University and the Fielding University. June is excited about joining her background to AWEA’s culture at this exciting time of growth and change in the wind industry. Khianti Silver
John H. Matthews John came to AWEA in 2009 to manage all aspects of the websites. With more than fourteen years as a web developer and designer, he has worked for start-up companies and large corporations in Silicon Valley and the Washington, D.C. area. He holds degrees in Graphic Arts and Photography. Jamika Arnwine Katie Miller
Katie joined AWEA in December 2006. She is responsible for managing all facets of the Information Technology department and iMIS association management system. Prior to joining AWEA, Katie worked for Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), a non-profit charitable organization. Her major projects at CCUSA included automating the integration of the organizations financial transactions into their accounting system and developing the processes for event registration over the web. Katie has completed various computer and database management courses. She is currently attending Strayer University.
